All About Maria - Answers To The Important Questions...

How do you like to have fun? I love singing and have been since I can remember. When I was 15, I finally become old enough to swap my hair brush for a proper microphone and joined my first band. I’ve performed with all kinds of bands ever since - including a nine piece funk band and even a Spice Girls style girlie group (we were first). My latest project’s called Hustle – so keep an eye on the Wessex FM gig guide and come and see us.

What's the most unconventional thing about you? It was being 33 and owning a Hamster, but he’s now gone to the great wheel in the sky. I would say I must be one of the only women in the world who isn’t really a big fan of chocolate…give me a bag of crisps any day.

What would be a perfect day for you? Spending it in a Cornish village – sitting on the harbourside people watching, then a walk along the cliffs and going out to dinner in the evening and catching a live band.

What's your most memorable moment? I was in Weymouth Panto one year with Keith Duffey from Boyzone. We happened to be on the same flight back from Dublin and he came over to sit with me. The problem is I am TERRIFIED of flying and I had to try and hold a normal conversation with him for the entire flight, which wasn’t helped by the fact that he insisted on answering his phone while we were taking off!

What would you do if you won the lottery? Not tell anyone for as long as possible. Help out my family and friends and buy a boat, a huge house in the country, with a swimming pool, room for a pony and a recording studio.

ON THE SHOW THIS WEEK.....

Join me for unplugged this Sunday from 2pm – when I'll be taking the show out on the road.

Weymouth Quayfest 2010

27 bands took part in Quayfest on the harbourside in Weymouth on the May Bank Holiday.  Here's what happened when I caught up with The Hostages, The Dinner Ladies, The Lo Numbers, and The Stereoironics....
