I am appealing for help on behalf of my elderly father. He has dropped €600 in a post office wallet in Dorchester somewhere between the post office and his bus stop. This money had been saved for a long time for him to use visiting his daughter in Germany . We would really appreciate your help and honesty.

Missing Toy Zebra

I lost my stripy companion on the south west Coastal path - within a ten minute walk either side of Eype Mouth on 19th July. He is about 5 inches from nose to tail - see website address for picture. We have been all over the world in the last 15 years, so he is quite special to me. If he is ever found, in any condition, I would be incredibly grateful if you could get in touch so he can be reunited with me. I will of course pay for carriage costs, though I do return to the area on an annual migration every summer. With many thanks for all your help,

Funds needed

We are pleased 33 people (men and women) wish to become members of our Shed, which is a not-for-profit organisation that will provide a communal workshop.
We are seeking start up funding to secure a unit in Dorchester so our members can come along and use a workbench and tools to mend or make something, or to pass on some of their skills in working with wood.
We have had excellent support from various Town, District and County organisations with applying for grants to fully equip our Shed, but these take time. Meanwhile, we need to build a cash fund of £5,000 so we can secure a lease and open for our members.
If you are able to help, you can make a donation via the donate button on the support page on our web site.

Are you able to help?

Volunteers are vital to help us at Age UK to continue to provide services for the older people in our community. We currently need volunteers in our Activity Centre (lots of laughs and the occasional cake!!) and for our Reach Out service. Our Reach Out volunteers visit older people at home and either encourage them to go along to social groups or simply visit for a coffee and a chat. Just a small amount of your time could mean such a lot and make a huge difference to the life of an older person.
Please contact Lisa for an informal chat about getting involved at Rowan Cottage on 01305 269444.

Leonard Cheshire Disability/Dorset Learning Disability Fundraiser

Dorset Learning Disability Services, part of Leonard Cheshire Disability, are having a sponsored slim to raise money for the cycle rickshaw they are planning to buy. People who use DLD’s services would like to be able to ride as passengers on this rickshaw and enjoy the benefits of fresh air and movement at cycle speed! Many of the people who receive support from DLDS are severely disabled so this rickshaw will be a real asset in terms of enabling them to get out and about. We have only £260 left to raise, in order to buy the rickshaw.

Phillip Harrison, support worker at DLDS came up with the idea of a sponsored slim to raise money as it is the summer, so an easier time to change one’s diet and lose some weight for a good cause.
Anyone can take part and raise money. The diet being used is the medically approved, ‘Scarsdale Diet’. See link for more info http://lowcarblisa.tripod.com/thescarsdalemedicaldiet/id18.html

If you or anyone you know would like to know more about the sponsored slim or about ways you can help support us through volunteering, please contact Hilary Campbell, Volunteer Co-ordinator on 07793801995 or Hilary.Campbell@leonardcheshire.org

Petitioning First Dorset Bus Group against the proposed cuts to the No 31 Bus Service through the villages of Steepleton and Martinstown to only two buses a day from May 27th 2014.
Need as many supportive signatures and air play announcements as possible to highlight this terrible decision to isolate villagers on the grounds the service is non-cost effective to First Group.
