Age UK Dorchester - The Sound of Music – another special blockbuster screening for the spring

The 1965 Oscar winning film musical The Sound of Music gets a special blockbuster screening on Monday 27th March 2017 at Age UK Dorchester. For the numerous fans of the film this is a rare opportunity to see it on the big screen.

Starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, the film is set in the 1930s with the beautifully stunning Austrian scenery as its backdrop. It’s packed with some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s the best loved songs, and is the most popular musical in cinema history. It tells the tale of a high spirited young woman who leaves the convent to became governess to the seven children of Captain von Trapp, a story familiar to so many.

Door open at 12.30pm with the cinema lights dimming at 1.00pm. Admission is £2 and includes tea, coffee and biscuits which will be served during the intermission. Ice creams will also be available.

Everyone is welcome to come along to Age UK Dorchester’s centre in Prince of Wales Road, and rekindle memories of this most wonderful film. This is ‘A not to be repeated event’ which should prove to be very popular. There’s no need to book, so come early for the best seats.

Bikers For Action SW - Charity Motorcycle Ride For Action on Addiction 3

Starting from South Coast Motorcycles, Oxford Court, Granby Industrial Estate, Weymouth

This is the 3rd charity motorcycle ride for Action on Addiction raising money for Clouds House in Shaftesbury, leaving South Coast Motorcycles at 10.30am, riding to West Bay for refreshments then onto Exmouth esplanade in Devon, charging £5.00 per bike, we also have ride tee shirts for sale at £5.00 each and pin badges at £3.00 each all proceeds go directly to Clouds House.. there is also a just giving link if anyone would kindly like to support the by making a small donation would be much appreciated go John Bramble just giving charity motorcycle ride for Action on Addiction 3.... if you want to join the ride you can find the ride on Facebook (charity motorcycle ride for Action on Addiction 3) or Facebook (Bikers For Action SW) who are supporting the ride...

All proceeds will support beneficiaries of the Dorset based Alcohol Education Trust , who work with schools, youth clubs and sports clubs to help young people safe around alcohol. A repeat of last year’s popular family event. This promises to be a wonderful family day of pirates, red Indians, fairies and mermaids. Many crafts for children to make, face painting, treasure hunt, bouncy castle, pirate games and much more. All included in the entry charge. There will be prizes for the best dressed Peter Pan character and lots of opportunity to join in the various activities on offer. The Fort Artillery will be firing their cannons and leading the battle against the pirates. We would like all you budding apprentice pirates to join in, Don’t forget to bring your cutlass or make your own sword on the day. The FORT VIEW café will be open throughout the day. Disabled access to those with restricted mobility is available to most of the fort. DOGS are welcome providing they are kept on a lead and supervised at all times.
