Protest To Save School

Protestors fighting to keep their village school open have been marching through the streets of Dorchester.

The convoy from St George's Village School in Langton Matravers was led by a tractor pulling a trailer of campaigners, with local school children following.

The planned closure is part of the County Council's proposals to restructure education in Purbeck, but the council's Community Overview Committee have now voted unanimously in favour of a consultation.

South Dorset MP, Jim Knight has told Wessex FM it is a great victory for parents and campaigners who were concerned their views weren’t being considered:
