Portland Brownies Saved

Portland Brownies

10:14am 21st June 2013

Portland's Brownies have been saved after a much needed donation from a local housing provider!

The group, which has been going for 30 years, found themselves struggling to pay for the St George Reform Centre where they're based.

Magna's Community Initiative fund gave them the money they needed so they can run the group for another year.

Liz Jolliffee, Brownie leader, told Wessex FM, 'This Brownie group has been running over 30 years now and it is getting harder and harder to sustain each year. The help we have received from Magna is very welcome and we would like to thank them for helping us to run the group this year.'

Ken Bodycombe, Magna's community investment officer, added, 'There are a few  Magna residents who use this Brownie group.  It's vitally important that community groups like this can continue, especially for youngsters as it allows them to learn new skills. The community initiative fund allows us to support community groups and show that we are much more than just a housing landlord.'
