New Festival Planned For Dorchester
8:12am 24th June 2013
Fancy heading to a festival this summer? What about going to one in Dorchester that also hopes to save the planet?
Local conservationists, environmentalists, and churches are just some of the organisers behind EarthWorks.
They'll be a mini festival in the Borough gardens on the 17 August and community dancing event on Maiden Castle.
One of the organisers, Nigel B Thomas from Hilfield Franciscan Friary, told Wessex FM that he hopes the event will get everyone thinking, "Locally we can make a difference to caring for local environment, thinking about food issues, use of green spaces, about educating the next generation into thinking about issues of sustainability".
He continued to explain what made them want to organise this sort of event, "We saw that there were different groups doing things in different corners of this part of the county, and we thought it would be a good and a fun thing to join some of those groups up. But the message is Earth works, it's a beautiful place to live and we need to care for it."
