Dorchester's High Street Best Performing

Dorchester's been named as one of the best performing High Streets in the South West.
That's from commercial property specialists Colliers International who say the county town has a 7% retail improvement on 2008.
Other South West towns, such as Yeovil and Taunton, have seen a significant decline which has led to rents in prime spots falling.
Wessex FM spoke to Phil Gordon from the Dorchester BID to get his reaction to the news - he said, "When times are tough especially you've got to look for ways to remind people that you're there, that will make people think 'we haven't been to Dorchester for a little while, let's go along and see what has changed in the last few years'. And the fact that we've got over 70 new shops in the last five years, I think, is quite simply astounding."
He continued: "We've got to look to ourselves to continue to improve on what we are doing and as we come up to the end of our ballet month for the BID, if we do get a yes vote to continue the Dorchester BID for another five years, we'll certainly hope to be there supporting businesses in town for the next five years to continue on the good work so far."
