Car Torched On Portland

7:38am 25th June 2013

An appeal is out after a car was torched on Portland last Monday night (17th June).

Dorset Police say the Black VW Golf was set on fire deliberately outside a house along Officers Field sometime before midnight (10pm-12:05am)

Officers have told us Dorset Fire and Rescue Service were quickly on the scene and extinguished the blaze.

No one was injured in the blaze and a 22-year-old Dorchester man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and since released on bail.

Detective Constable Ian Frizzle, of County CID, said: “This alleged fire is believed to have been started maliciously.

“I am appealing for witnesses to this incident to contact Dorset Police in confidence with any information they may have.

“I am particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have seen a man acting suspiciously in the area prior to the incident taking place, or running off afterwards.

“I would also urge anyone who may have seen a red Peugeot vehicle driving in the area around the time to contact us.”

You can contact the force on 101.
