Dorchester Student To Run Skills Workshop
9:37am 25th June 2013
A new and unique community based project is making its way to Dorchester.
From the 16th to the 21st of September, Dorchester's own Oxford University Student, Hettie Burn's is running an event she's calling 'Try this'.
Local people from all aspects of the community can come together and share skills and knowledge in a series of free sessions. The sessions will vary depending on who gets involved but you could be learning skills from photography to how to change a light bulb and gain knowledge about the bizarre to the extraordinary!
The project has support from many local groups such as the Partnership of Older Peoples Projects, and the West Dorset Council.
Trial sessions have already been held including the very popular 'how to conduct and orchestra' and a computer programming session. Mark Tattersall (the Artistic Director of Dorchester Arts) told us that "Dorchester is full of creatively talented people and the 'Try this' project will be a great opportunity for those to be shared with others in the community."
But for this event to happen, the organisers need help in the form of volunteers to give sessions on skills, talents, talks on experiences, ideas they want to share, or if you can offer a venue for these sessions, let the organisers know! Bear in mind that all venues must be easily accessible and in Dorchester.
For further information, check them out on Facebook at 'Dorchester Try This', and on twitter at 'dorchestertry'.
If you have any additional questions, you can contact the main organiser; Hettie Burn by telephone on 0784-559-9950.
