Friendship Club To Host Glitter Ball
10:16am 25th June 2013
A glamorous glitter ball is being thrown for 350 adults in Dorset with learning disabilities.
The event's being put in at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy in September.
It's being run by The Friendship Club.
FACTS ABOUT THE FRIENDSHIP CLUB:
The Friendship Club is a club lead by adults with learning disabilities for other adults with learning disabilities to provide a stable and safe network within the community allowing them to build friendships and socialise with a variety of people.
It currently has approximately 500 people attending regularly and is only facilitated by one full time and one part time member of staff, and a lot of volunteers.
Throughout 2012 the club put on 149 fundraising events across 14 towns in Dorset.
The Glitter Ball is being held on the 27th September.
The club is hoping to raise funds to become more sustainable, as their Big Lottery Grant ends in December 2013.
They're currently looking for sponsors to help with the cost of this event to make it as big as it can because it could be their last one as there will be potential funders attending.
