The family of one of the crew members of the Purbeck Isle, lost at sea last year off the Dorset Coast, is backing a government initiative to offer fishing vessels new lifejackets at greatly reduced costs to crew.
The body of Robert Prowse has never been found.
This morning, on 'wear your lifejacket to work day' his brother and mother will be alongside the RNLI boat in Weymouth Marina from 10am with the prototype jacket.
The government are prepared to fund most of the cost of the £ 100 lifejackets for crews of fishing vessels, leaving the crews to find just a tenner towards the cost.
Jill Mitchell who was Robert's aunt, says while she conceeds his body may never be found, the family would like to help to prevent other tragedies by urging boat crews to wear the lifejackets and to take up the heavily discounted offer.
