A new industial unit being built on the former Olympic sailing village on Portland is set to create up to 50 new jobs.
Tidebank UK have begun the construction of the new 4,500 square ft industrial unit in Osprey Quay, the Navigator Business Centre.
This is the first of 3 new units planned by the company who also developed the Maritime Business Centre. Construction for the Business Centre is due to be completed at the end of August.
HCA Area Manager Mark Glendenning told Wessex FM, "Encouraging inward investment and new job opportunities in the area is a vital element of the future success of this development and we are working hard to make this happen at Osprey Quay."
If plans are approved, there are hopes to develop two more units at the end of the year which would see nearly £2M being invested into the Island.
Deputy Mayor of Weymouth, Councillor Kate Wheller said: “This is excellent news for Osprey Quay, Portland and Weymouth. Following the excitement of the Olympic Games last year, the council is delighted that new private investment and jobs are coming to Osprey Quay.”
