Dorset's engineer responsible for the maintenance of bridges in the county, John Burridge, has told Wessex FM the meshing and soil nailing should be complete by Monday at the latest.
They're also having to resurface the road where it's been damaged by heavy machinery.
He says temporary traffic lights may still be in place for a short time after the re-opening, but they will be removed in time for Buckham Fair, on Sunday 18th August.
Last year saw delays of up to 2 hours for many visitors to the fair, who were stuck in a long diversion around Beaminster while attempting to get to the fair site while the tunnel was closed.
12 months ago part of the tunnel collapsed following heavy rain.
A couple from Somerset were crushed to death as their car was entombed in the rubble. They weren't discovered till more than a week later.
