11:45am 8th July 2013
Neighbours and Friends in Beaminster, West Dorset and the surrounding areas can see for themselves the state of the art facilities and expertise on offer at one of Dorset’s newest school buildings, later this month.
Mountjoy School, which relocated from Bridport to purpose built premises in Beaminster last November and works with young people aged between 2.5 and 19 years old, invites the public into their new home for the first time.
Between 4-6 pm on Monday 22nd July, you can come for a visit to the New Mountjoy, whose facilities include a sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, classrooms and a range of other specialised areas.
There will be the chance to discuss the school’s approach to teaching and learning, for youngsters who have a range of complex needs, whilst develop a greater understanding about how the school supports the learning community of West Dorset and surrounding areas.
James Franzen, headteacher says, 'We are extremely proud of our new school in Beaminster, and would like to offer an opportunity for members of the public to come and find out more about us. By the end of your visit, I hope that you will also have a greater idea about our role in the local and wider community, particularly if you are a parent, carer and/or work with a young person with additional needs'
Mountjoy is a member of TADSS, the Teaching Alliance of Dorset Special Schools but is the only local authority special school in the West of Dorset.
