360 New Jobs For Weymouth?
7:05am 12th July 2013
360 news jobs could be created - and £30M invested into the local economy in Weymouth.
That's what Wessex Delivery LLP say will be the benefit of relocating Weymouth Football Stadium.
The information has gone out to key stakeholders and councillors.
Wessex LLP has two planning applications going through at the moment.
One for building a new stadium at Lodmoor and creating 170 new homes at the Bob Lucas Site.
Wessex Delivery say they're keen to ensure the benefits of the scheme are explained.
Andrew Livingston from Wessex Delivery says: "This is a complex project involving two planning applications which cover two local authorities but are linked together. We are dedicated to providing a modern community sports facility in the form of a new stadium, which would be the envy of any town, but to achieve this, the development of much needed new family homes on the existing Wessex site is critical.
"As we work through the mechanics of the planning process we felt it was important that all our stakeholders, including organisations who we have had extensive discussions with, received an update as to our findings and current situation. We are in a strong position; the benefits case is proving to be of high value with an accurate calculation of approximately 360 new jobs coming out of the schemes. This is very good news for Weymouth overall."
They also undertook a series of public consultations last year which have resulted in amendments made to the plans - you can see the latest here.
