Beaminster Businesses ‘Vouch’ For Family Food Bank Scheme
8:17am 12th July 2013
Beaminster's foodbank is working well thanks to kind hearted residents and three businesses in the town.
Families in need can apply for food parcels by contacting the Childrens centre.
When shoppers use the butcher, greengrocer or chemist they can buy £2 or £5 vouchers which the centre spends on essential items for those parcels.
Around 20 food parcels have now been distributed.
Nicola Shoemark, who is Centre Lead for Beaminster and Lyme Regis Childrens Centre says the community's really bought into the idea of how to help its more needy families.
She also says by shoppers chosing to help out by buying from these shops in Beaminster rather than going further afield, it has been a help to those businesses by attracting customers.
