Ferry Berth Completed on Time for Condor's Return to Weymouth
7:40am 16th July 2013
Condor Ferries make their triumphant return to Weymouth this afternoon after an 18 month absence.
The first sailing from the harbour is tomorrow (Wednesday 17th July).
More than 70,000 passengers have already booked to travel to and from Weymouth on Condor over the coming months.
A cracked ferry berth forced them to relocate sailings to Poole in February 2012.
Cllr Ian Roebuck, Brief Holder for Environment and Sustainability at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: "We are very pleased to confirm the work to repair ferry berth three has been completed in time for the return of Condor Ferries.
"Weymouth and Portland is the natural gateway to the Channel Islands and having that link back in the borough is great for the area in time for the summer season.
"We are now looking to the future and look forward to the return of the link to the Channel Islands."
The contractor will remain on site for the coming weeks to complete any snagging issues and final clear-up.
