New Modern Library For Dorchester
12:24pm 19th July 2013
It's all change for library users in Dorchester.
Gone is the old traditional library opposite county hall, now replaced with modern facilities behind West Dorset's new council offices.
Dorchester's new library and learning centre's now open with a 21st century look and facilities.
As well as the traditional books, there are multi functional classrooms, an IT suite, and a family learning room in double the space of the previous building near County Hall.
The county council will be terminating its lease on the current adult learning centre in Prince of Wales Road, and the old library building at Colliton Park will be converted into office space, to help the council reduce its overall number of buildings.
The new centre's started a month long series of celebration events today. For full details log onto www.dorsetforyou.com/libraryevents
