The Weymouth & Portland Mayor's Fund has raised over £3,000 for two local good causes.

Julia's House and Osprey Leisure centre were chosen to receive the money by former Mayor Margaret Leicester during her term in office.

Cheques were presented to representatives of both organisations, with Julia's House receiving £2558.54 and Osprey Leisure Centre receiving £646.44.

Councillor Margaret Leicester spoke to Wessex FM and thanked the local community for getting involved and donating to the fund, "I am very pleased so much money was raised during my term in office. Both organisations will really benefit from the money. I would like to thank all those people who got involved and donated to the fund."

This year CLIC Sargent and the Weymouth and Portland St John Ambulance are the charities selected by current mayor Ray Banham. Donations can be made directly to the Civic Office.
