Drax Fears Portland Coastguard Will Be 'Bereft Of Pilots'

A vocal campaigner to retain the Portland helicopter fears the service will be 'bereft of pilots' long before its planned closure in 2017.
In a letter to the Transport minister, South Dorset MP Richard Drax says the coast will have a reduced or non-existent service as pilots leave and apply for other jobs.
He says that leaves Dorset residents and holiday makers in an unacceptable situation, as any contract pilots brought in to cover won't have the necessary local knowledge.
He's also reminded the minister the Portland aircraft has been airborne on virtually every day during the last month, frequently on multiple missions.
