8:26am 3rd August 2013
Two children seen drifting out to sea in an inflatable dinghy off Swanage have been rescued by a pedalo operator.
Emergency services received several calls alerting them.
Coastguards and RNLI crews retrieved the dinghy and another which had been swept out to sea in an offshore wind. South West Ambulance also attended.
Coastguards also had reports of a kite surfer being dragged in the water by his kite near Portland's Ferry Bridge and asked local vessels 'Fire Dragon' and 'Eunice' to assist. The kite surfer was safely taken back to shore.
There were also 999 calls to Poprtland Coastguard concerned for the safety of a 10ft inflatable dinghy in the area of Beer Head in rough sea conditions. The small craft with 2 people aboard, (neither wearing lifejackets) had a small outboard, and came to shore with the help of Beer Coastguard Rescue officers and a local fishing vessel.
