Have Your Say On New Housing Strategy
7:33am 7th August 2013
A joint council project wants to get your views on housing and the environment
West Dorset District Council and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council are launching a new public consultation on homlessness, affordable housing and private rental standards amongst other important issues
It's all in an effort to see the public help shape the strategy and future of housing in the area.
Cllr Robert Gould, Leader of West Dorset District Council, said: “The district council is working alongside Weymouth & Portland Borough Council to come up with a joint strategy that will set out the housing vision for both authorities for the next five years.
“It is very important people get involved and have their say so the public can help shape the strategy and the future of housing in their area.”
Cllr Ray Nowak, Brief Holder for Housing at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: “We have seen major changes to the housing sector over recent years, from changes to social housing policy and major reviews of the planning system.
“The housing review will therefore help us to come up with new and innovative approaches to deal with these issues and to address the growing levels and ranges of housing need in the area.”
A number of drop-in sessions for the public to find out more, ask questions and complete the consultation forms will take place on:
- Monday 16 September 2013 at Mountfield, Bridport, from 3pm to 7 pm
- Monday 23 September 2013 at South Walks House, Dorchester, from 3pm to 7pm
- Thursday 26 September 2013 Council offices, North Quay, Weymouth, from 3pm to 7pm
