Get Your Children's Eyes Checked

8:02am 11th August 2013

Parents in Dorset are being told getting your child's eyes tested is more important than a trip to the dentist.

Wareham Optometrist Graham Shayler says undiagnosed sight problems may affect a child's ability to do well at school.

A campaign's been launched to raise awareness of the importance of eye health.

Parents are urged to get their youngsters eyes checked as part of their back to school routine.

It's estimated that UP to 1 million children in the UK will return to school in September with an undiagnosed vision problem
Geoff Shayler from Shaylers Vision Centre in Wareham says children should have their eyes checked around the age of 3 - so problems can be corrected more easily.

Free sight tests are available from any local high street optometrist.
