Weymouth BID Manager Appointed

Nigel Reed Weymouth BID

8:11am 14th August 2013

Nigel Reed has got the job as the new Weymouth Bid Manager.

His previous role was working as Weymouth BID Co-ordinator, taking the project through to a ballot in May - where it successfully achieved a YES vote.

13 people applied for the job - three were interviewed and finally Nigel Reed was chosen.

As BID Manager his role will now be to delivery on their business plan.

The BID takes money from businesses, creating a pot of £300,000 which it puts back into local projects to boost the town centre.

Nigel's job will now be to make sure their ideas increase visitor spending, and encourage more people to keep coming back to Weymouth.

Barrie Huett, Chair of Weymouth BID said "The Weymouth BID Board are delighted to announce the appointment of Nigel Reed as BID Manager for Weymouth. Nigel has been instrumental in leading the Weymouth BID and Steering Group over the past 22 months and myself and the Board of Weymouth BID Limited are eager to start work on delivering the BID business plan."

"Nigel has worked tirelessly and voluntarily, supported by an active Steering Group, to achieve the YES vote."

"Candidature for the BID Manager role was particularly strong but Nigel's enthusiasm for the BID and passion for Weymouth shone through making him an obvious choice."

Nigel Reed, newly appointed Weymouth BID Manager said " I am extremely pleased to be offered the position and whilst at the beginning this was not the role I had intended for myself, through working on the BID over the last 22 months, I felt that I had the skills needed to deliver the business plan once the Yes vote was achieved. This is an important stage in the BIDs progress with a new mix on the board of original steering group and new members representing all the levy payers. I am looking forward to the challenge of delivering the business plan and ensuring that levy payers see a real benefit from the BID over the next five years."

The Weymouth BID management board will meet again on 14th August 2013 to continue the setting up of the BID for the official start date of 1st September 2013.
