Warning Over Fake £10 Notes In Weymouth
7:40am 23rd August 2013
There's concern people are going to be left out of pocket due to fake bank notes circulating around Weymouth.
In the last 48 hours a number of counterfeit £10 bank notes have been used to pay for things in local shops.
Manager at the Weymouth Post Office Leon Gallie says all the fake notes found are of a similar quality.
Leon says when a fake note is found, unfortunately, people are left out of pocket;
"Once they've been spotted and taken out of circulation we can't give the fake money back. We give a receipt for them, and if the note is subsequently found to be genuine then the Bank of England will reimburse the customer. But unfortunately it's the person who last has it who has to take it on the chin."
