"You Have to Move with the Times" ... Dorset Pub on Closures
8:18am 30th August 2013
Up to 4,000 pubs will close in the next year, according to the Good Pub Guide.
The popular publication says too many are "stuck in the 1980s", and don't put enough effort into their food or drink.
They argue that it's high time "bad pubs" go out of business to give visionary and energetic licensees a chance to open new ones.
The Guide predicts more than 1,000 new pubs will open next year, often in former hostelries that have been shuttered for years.
Owner of the Brewers Arms in Martinstown Anne Marie told Wessex FM, keeping things fresh and affordable for their customers is the key to success:
"As well as making sure we're serving really good homemade food using local produce and that the quality is assured, we also have specials on the weekend so we try things that are a bit different and try to move with the times, to see what our customers like".
