Fire Crews on Another Heath Fire Callout in Dorset
8:27am 30th August 2013
Fire crews have been dampening down and checking the scene of a major heath fire for hotspots in Dorset.
70 fire fighters, including a number from Bere Regis and Wareham, were called to help tackle the blaze yesterday (Thursday 29th August) afternoon at Hamm Common near Hamworthy.
An investigation into a spate of arson attacks on heathland around Dorset is still on-going after a number of similar incidents this month.
There have been concerns for wildlife affected by the heath fires with habitats burned to a crisp, forcing animals and rare lizards out into the open and exposed to predators.
Dorset Police want people to be on the lookout for anyone acting suspiciously and report any their concerns to the force on 101.
