Recycling Centre Reopens After Fire

Swanage fire

8:09am 5th September 2013

The Swanage recycling centre that was the scene of a major blaze earlier in the week, reopens today (Thursday 5th September).

The site and its bins have been jet washed and made safe after 3 skips were damaged in the accidental blaze in the early hours.

Electrical repairs will be made in the next few days but this will not affect the use of the site by the public.

The Dorset Waste Partnership has thanked local residents for their patience while the site was closed.

An investigation by Dorset Fire and Rescue couldn't determine exact cause but said the incident was not thought to be malicious.
