Dorset Fire Chief Addresses Select Committee
4:41pm 9th September 2013
Dorset's chief officer's clarified reasons behind his talks about a possible merger with the Wiltshire Fire Service.
Darran Gunter's been giving evidence to a select committee, where he's told MP's about how money can be saved through better operational and back office relationships between the two organisations.
Here's Mr Gunter's statement to the media:
"I am in London today having being invited to give oral evidence to the Select Committee on the Knight Review. Staff at both Dorset Fire and Rescue and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue have been working together to establish how we can obtain savings through better operational and back office relationships. This includes joint procurement, procedures and our work on the Network Fire Control Services Partnership. It goes without saying that our communities would expect us to look for and find all possible savings before we consider adverse changes to our service delivery."
