A benefit cheat who skipped his court date, has been ordered to pay over 2 and a half thousand pounds to Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.
39 year old Glen Plucknett, of no fixed abode, failed to tell the authorities he left his rented property in Weymouth and was arrested.
He stole close to 2 thousand 600 hundred pounds in Housing and Council Tax Benefits combined.
He was still claiming on a property that he had moved out from along the Esplanade last year.
Plucknett has also been charged for court costs.
Cllr Peter Chapman, Brief Holder for Finance and Assets at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: "It is crucial anyone claiming benefits informs the borough council of a change in circumstances immediately.
"We will continue to work alongside our partners to proactively combat benefit fraud."
