Children Entitled to Free Pre-School Learning in Dorset

11:18am 11th September 2013

Some parents in Dorset MAY be missing out on getting their child free pre-school education.

If you have a 2 year old, receive benefits and your household income is less than 16.2 thousand a year , you could be entitled to a free child minder or local nursery place.

All 3 and 4 year olds are currently entitled to 15 hours of early education per week during term time to help them prepare for school.

Dorset County Council has now launched an online tool where Mums and Dads can find out if they qualify - click here to take a look.

Cabinet member for education at Dorset County Council Toni Coombs was passionate about helping young children when she spoke to us:

"Every child should have the opportunity of a good education because a good education improves their chances for the rest of their life. So the earlier that we can get youngsters ready from school, ready for learning the better their educational journey will be."
