No Tall Ships Race For Weymouth Till 2016 At Earliest

Weymouth's harbourmaster wants the tall ships race to return here.

But the chair of the harbour management board, Dominic Lonsdale's warning against getting our hopes up too much.

Keith Howorth wants the race, held here in 1983, 1987 and 1994, to be hosted again from Weymouth.

But councillor Lonsdale's told Wessex FM  the council will look at the possibilities but no work's been done on it so far, and they couldn't play host till 2016 at the earliest.

This year crews raced along the Baltic Sea from Aarhus in Denmark to Szczecin(Poland) stopping en route at Helsinki(Finland) and Riga (Latvia).
