Money for Dorset Home Owners to Carry Out Repairs

Cash strapped Weymouth and Portland Borough council are offering loans to residents to make essential home repairs.
They've set aside £ 150,000 as part of a scheme which includes government cash.
Councillor Ray Nowak's told Wessex FM they're keen for people to be able to fix windows, replace roof slates and update their boilers before the winter weather sets but appreciates residents don't always have the time or the finances to get the jobs done.
He says the loans are aimed at people who might otherwise find it more difficult to get finance, and they're offered at a low rate of interest(4.2% APR)
The council says its particularly keen to see the funding bring empty homes back into use in addressing the housing needs of the borough.
