'Ride and Stride' To Dorset Churches
8:34am 14th September 2013
Today (Saturday 14th September) you may come across people walking, cycling and even horse riding from one Church, to another, and another around Dorset.
It is all part of a National Fundraising day organised locally by Dorset Historic Churches Trust, called the Ride + Stride event.
It's estimated around 200 churches will be open from 10am until 6pm providing refreshments and a resting place for those taking part.
Participants are raising money for the maintenance and repair of the Dorset's Historic Churches.
Simon Pomeroy, Chairman of Dorset Historic Churches Trust, spoke to Wessex FM and told us, "The annual Ride+Stride event is a great way for all the family to explore some of our wonderful local churches either on foot, by bicycle, wheelchair or on horseback, whilst at the same time raising funds to support your local church and the important work that DHCT does across the county."
He added, "We are very much looking forward to this year's event and hope to see many people out and about enjoying the Dorset countryside"
