10:20am 16th September 2013
The first drop in session as part of a joint housing review by councils in South and West Dorset starts today. (16th September)
Details will be revealed on plans to deal with homelessness, building more affordable homes, and promoting energy efficiency.
Today’s session is between 3pm and 7pm at Mountfield in Bridport.
Further sessions are as follows:
- Wednesday 18 September 2013 at The Digby Hall, Sherborne, from 3pm to 7pm
- Monday 23 September 2013 at South Walks House, Dorchester, from 3pm to 7pm
- Thursday 26 September 2013 Council offices, North Quay, Weymouth, from 3pm to 7pm
Cllr Robert Gould, Leader of West Dorset District Council, said: “There is still plenty of opportunity for people to find out more about the strategy and make their voices heard.
“There are a number of drop-in sessions across West Dorset and I would encourage people to come along and get involved.”
Cllr Ray Nowak, Brief Holder for Housing at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: “We are working hard alongside West Dorset District Council to put together this important strategy for the area which deals with many key housing issues.
“I would like to invite residents in the borough to come to a drop-in session so they can have their say on the proposals, or fill in a form online or at the council offices.”
Both West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland Borough Councillors will consider draft proposals once the public consultations are over.
The new strategy could be adopted as early as November.
