Dorset Bird Week Begins
8:23am 28th September 2013
Today (28th of September) sees the re-launch of an event to be 'tweeted' about; it's Dorset Autumn Bird Week.
There'll be guided walks and talks across Dorset with local bird experts, and the week will end next weekend (5th-6th October) with Dorset's first ever Bird Fair at Durlston Country Park in Swanage.
It's free entry to the Dorset Bird Fair, which aims to highlight the rich and diverse birdlife of Dorset. It will include bird and wildlife information stalls, art exhibitions, workshops; such as bird sounds and wildlife photography, music and guided walks and presentations.
We spoke to the Conservation Ranger from Durlston Country Park, Simon Breeze, who encourages anybody to attend, "it's aimed at those with a mere interest, right up to experienced bird watchers."
"We're really fortunate in Dorset to have a wonderful variety of birds. And especially in Coastal locations, at this time of year, birds gather in their thousands. It really is a spectacle to behold as they fly over your head."
