Tourist Centre Up For Top Award
8:11am 1st October 2013
The Discover Purbeck Information Centre in Wareham is a finalist in the first ever Dorset Tourism Awards.
The Centre's run by Purbeck District Council.
It's up against Lyme Regis TIC and one in Poole.
Councillor Peter Webb, Economy and Infrastructure Spokesperson for Purbeck District Council, said: "Tourism is such an important part of Purbeck's economy, so it's good to know that our services are being recognised.
"The Discover Purbeck Information Centre is often the first point of contact for visitors arriving in the district and this nomination demonstrates the importance of ensuring that every visitor is able to make the most of their visit.
"Receiving an award is great recognition of the efforts of the team at the Information Centre and the services provided."
We'll find out who the winner is later this month.
Also competing for awards are:
Holiday Park of the Year - South Lytchett Manor Caravan and Camping Park, Lytchett Minster
Best Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience - National Trust, Brownsea Island, Poole
Visitor Attraction of the Year - Farmer Palmers, Organford; The Tank Museum, Bovington
