Cruise Success at Portland Port
8:25am 8th October 2013
After winning the Most Improved Destination award earlier this year, Portland Port has seen it's biggest cruise season ever.
It's been a record breaking summer with over 20,000 cruise passengers sailing through, and a total of 19 cruise calls.
The cruise season runs from the beginning of May until the 30th of September.
Delighted Ian McQuade, General Manager (Business Development) of Portland Port, told Wessex FM, "Portland has enjoyed its most successful cruise season to date and next year is set to be better again, with the likes of Holland America, Royal Caribbean and AIDA cruise lines all making return visits to the port."
He mentionned that all cruise calls this year have been welcomed by Stuart Cave, the Portland Town Crier and that the port has also recruited local language speakers to assist with Portland's foreign visitors.
The cruise season of 2014 will start at the beginning of May next year with around 20 cruise calls already confirmed for Portland Port.
