8:28am 8th October 2013

A Weymouth street is gonna be closed for 20 weeks from next month for essential wall repairs retaining Chaplehay Street.

The road and Dorset Terrace are to close on November 4th.

Wet weather has caused some of the wall to collapse and other parts to move and crack.

Contractors working on behalf of Weymouth & Portland Borough Council have been appointed to:

Demolish the original retaining wall, construct a new reinforced concrete wall topped with brick parapet wall and handrail and reinstate a ramp providing an accessible route to Town Bridge.

The southern footpath along Chapelhay Street and access to Chapelhay Steps will remain open at all times.
