More Support For Victims Of Crime
3:15pm 10th October 2013
A year to the day Martyn Underhill became Dorset Police Crime Commissioner he plans to fufill a pledge he made to help our County's victims.
A specific division, or a 'one-stop-shop' as he's called it, will be created to give tailored support just to victims of crime. It'll be based inside Dorset Police Headquarters in Winfrith.
PCC Martyn Underhill spoke with Wessex FM about what the new department will offer, "The Victim's Bureau will take a lot of calls away from the 101 centre which currently come in from victims, because it is a specific bureau dealing with victims, and I welcome it's creation because I think it gives a centre point for victims to go to for help and support."
Martyn told us what the next month would hold, "The first stage is a police-lead bureau that will open on the 19th of November and I'm really excited about that, that's something that I pledged to do to the electorate... and stage two will incorporate all of the agencies, so probation, her Majesty Court Service, Crown Prosecution service will all be in the same Bureau leading the victim through their journey from start to finish."
