Get More Funding For Your Community Group
3:19pm 10th October 2013
Community groups in West Dorset are being given advice on how they can improve their chances of getting more external funding.
A series of workshops are taking place over the next two months to provide some top tips.
Community groups who work together will also increase their chances of winning grants.
Leader of West Dorset District Council, Robert Gould said:
"Community groups and voluntary organisations make a valuable contribution to our local area.
"So it's important, particularly in these financially straightened times, to ensure they have the knowledge and skills they need to access funding and continue their good work.
"We know that many groups are working towards similar goals or need funding for similar things, so one of the key aims of these sessions is to encourage the groups to work together where possible to help increase their chances of success."
The sessions called 'Improving success with funding bids - learning together' will take place from 4pm-6.30pm on the following dates:
- 15 October - Digby Hall, Sherborne
- 24 October - Bridport Town Hall
- 4 November - South Walks House, Dorchester
- 12 November - Beaminster Town Hall, Skrym Room
- 14 November - Woodmead Hall, Lyme Regis
The sessions are free to attend but spaces will be limited so booking is essential.
The workshops are aimed at projects within West Dorset but cross border working will be considered, where relevant.
Attendees will also be invited to come along to the West Dorset Partnership's Annual Assembly on 2 December 2pm-5pm at the Corn Exchange, Dorchester.
This follow up session will use information gathered from the five workshops to identify opportunities for joint working across the district.
