Police in Weymouth need your help after a man was hit in a fail to stop accident.

It happened around 6.30 on Tuesday morning on the B3157 in Chickerell.

A dark coloured vehicle overtook a black Nissan, hit a pedestrian and then drove off.

A 52-year-old Weymouth man suffered minor injuries.

Police Constable Jane Walker, of Weymouth police, said: "I am appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward in order to help us with our enquiries.

"The offending driver, who we believe to be a man, has shown a complete disregard for the injured pedestrian and driven off without leaving any details or checking on his welfare.

"The pedestrian suffered bruising to his arm in the incident but his injuries could have been a lot worse, and we are extremely keen to find this driver and speak with him.

"All calls will be treated in confidence."

No arrests have been made.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 08:47. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
