Repair Work Starts At Corfe Castle
12:30pm 14th October 2013
Experts will be checking for loose stonework and mortar and removing any plants and weeds from the historic Dorset landmark.
They'll be making repairs by hand using syringes filled with traditional lime mortar.
The work's being carried out during weekdays to prevent disruption to visitors at the weekend.
"The whole operation is delicate and a very skilled job," said Visitor Experience Officer Pam White.
"Apart from modern health and safety and plastic buckets, the conservators work very much as medieval builders would have done when they built or repaired the castle."
The work is due to finish on December 23.
