Weymouth Marks United Nations Day

UN DAY Weymouth 1

10:55am 24th October 2013
(Updated 12:26pm 24th October 2013)

We're being invited to a special ceremony in Weymouth this morning to mark United Nations Day.

A short service led by Mayor Ray Banham is being held at Radipole Park Gardens at 10 o'clock this morning.

The UN flag will be raised, followed by speeches and prayers.

Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Cllr Ray Banham said: "It is with great pride that I have the opportunity to host this important borough civic service to recognise United Nations Day and acknowledge the outstanding work carried out by the UN."

The mayor will be joined by representatives of local business groups, friends of the parks and gardens and borough councillors.

For those attending the United Nations service parking will be available at the Radipole tennis courts at the end of the borough gardens.
