An Olympic Gift

One of the main focal points of the 2012 Olympic Games in Weymouth and Portland has been handed over to the community.
Land at Osprey Quay is now owned by the Land Trust. The national charity manages public spaces to ensure they deliver a range of community benefits.
The Trust says they'll ensure the annual Gala will continue at Osprey Quay and they'll work with existing businesses and help to attract new ones.
They'll also ensure the flood defences are properly maintained.
The first phase of land to be transferred includes flood defences, open space areas of the business park and the promenade between Portland Castle and the Marina.
During the Olympics, Osprey Quay was host to the main sailing events and athlete village and a focus for thousands of people who gathered along the coastline to watch the sailing events.
