Mental Health Nurses To Assess Detainees

Dorset's Police and Crime Commissioner is calling for a pilot scheme to help assess people who are arrested with mental health problems.
Martyn Underhill wants to use mental health nurses to triage people who the police are called to deal with.
They would help diagnose those with mental health issues, allowing them to be sent to the correct healthcare facility - rather than a police custody suite.
The scheme could be up and running in April next year.
