Pub Converts Old Store Cupboard Into Village Shop

Villagers near Bridport who've spent twelve years travelling over four miles to do their food shop now have their own village shop.
An old store room in Pucknowle village's pub has been converted into a shop selling local produce. Alex and Blanche Alexander, who moved into The Crown Inn in January this year, have spend the last nine months getting the shop ready.
The village has been without a local shop for twelve years. Landlady Blanche Alexander spoke to Wessex FM and told us she felt was important to get the Crown Inn Village Shop open before this winter, "it can be a case where the pub is the only place people can get to. I think knowing that they can still come along, but get some bread and milk as well will make all the difference."
Blanche continued to say she hoped the shop would become a village 'hub', "there's been alot of really good feedback from the villagers and the surrounding villagers as well, because it's about four and a half miles to the nearest shop, and by the time you add on the cost of getting there as well, and you have alot of older people in the village who have to rely on the bus, which isn't that regular as well."
