Thieves Steal Fireman's Bike

Dorset Fire And Rescue Engine

7:22am 12th November 2013

A retained fire fighter from Maiden Newton is having to run to his local station when someone calls 999 after thieves stole his bike at the weekend (Sat 9th November).

Keen cyclist Ross O'Donovan used his black and silver Trek mountain bike when he was called to his local fire station in an emergency.

It was taken from his home on Church Road sometime overnight on Saturday.

Ross told Wessex FM he's going to have to run to the station in an emergency until he gets a new bike:

"I'm pretty gutted. I use my bike to get to te fire station as quickly as possible but now I'm going to have to run which wastes valuable seconds where I could be helping the community. I think I'm gonna have to get a new one because I have no idea where this one has gone."

"I could get a bit fitter than I am though and burn off some extra calories. Hopefully I get a new bike for Christmas."

Ross have informed Dorset Police of the bike theft.
