Fisherman Names Life Saving Tracker after Trio in Purbeck Isle Tragedy
7:37am 21st November 2013
A fisherman from Weymouth has developed a device that will help track someone who's fallen overboard.
Hue Cox has created a special pouch for a personal locating beacon which means fisherman can have it attached to them at all times.
He's named it the JFR in recognition of Jack, Farley and Robert - the three local fishermen who lost their lives when their boat, The Purbeck Isle went down off Portland.
Hue's persuaded the European Fisheries Fund to cover half the cost for 50 units which will be sold locally - and he says they'll offer peace of mind.
A safety campaign to encourage fishermen to buy the devices will be officially launched at Weymouth Angling Club on the 10th December.
