Women 'Reclaim The Night' In Dorchester
8:19am 23rd November 2013
Women are invited to 'reclaim the night' on the streets of Dorchester this evening for 'International Violence Against Women Day'.
The county's women's action network and domestic violence forum have come together to host the evening with drumming workshops, a buffet dinner, charity auction, and a march through the town's streets.
Kicking off at 7pm at the town hall you can get tickets on the door for £3 - with all proceeds going to the Women's Refuge.
WAND chair Sue Bickle explains why they're marching, "The march through the streets is a way of raising awareness of the vulnerability faced by many women through domestic violence and abuse, rape, honour based violence, and practises such a female circumcision."
She continues, "While we recognise that domestic violence and abuse is not a female only issue, as a women's group we are focusing our efforts on woman's issues and raising money for the woman's refuge."
